Project VUKA Update

| July 13, 2018

Over the last month, the Better Life team has been hard at work raising funds for Project VUKA. The National Lotteries Commission has committed R800 000 towards the project while funding applications have been sent to numerous other foundations. The new cost estimate for the project has been reduced from approximately R8.5 million to R8 million, making our job a little bit easier.

Western Province Hockey has donated a second-hand astro turf for Ikhwezilesizwe Primary School while a new, international standard astro turf will be installed at the Khayelitsha Sports Club. With 20 schools signed up to start hockey upon the completion of the project, this is exciting times for local hockey.

G Studio has come onboard with Project VUKA and designed a number of multimedia items. They will also be running a Facebook campaign on behalf of project VUKA. Project VUKA’s media campaign will begin imminently and Better Life is currently in contact with a local Khayelitsha radio station.

If you would like to make a contribution towards Project VUKA or can offer your assistance in growing awareness regarding the project, please get in contact with the Better Life team.
